A local ministry that serves the needs of residents in the area has kicked off a competition that starts with just one can. The Regional Interfaith Association is asking everyday people, along with teams of professionals within the design and construction industry, to build incredible structures made entirely from canned goods. In addition to collecting food for distribution, the competition educates visitors about the less fortunate and how everyone can make a difference. “Food is probably the most important thing, but of course, with the structures being updated at the mall for a couple of weeks, said Lisa Tillman, director for RIFA. “It also helps to raise awareness about the issue.” The setup for Canstruction inside the Old Hickory Mall is October 18, and the designs will be on display until October 28. For information on how you can take part, contact RIFA at (731) 427-7963.
