TDOT Announces Sidewalk Grant for Camden
Downtown Camden will soon get a new look, thanks to the Tennessee Department of Transportation. Monday, department officials gave the town a check for more than $350,000, which will go toward phase three of the downtown improvements project. It includes improvement to sidewalks, lighting and landscaping. The transportation department said this will hopefully attract people to downtown businesses. . “That means sales tax revenue, which means a push and a bonus for both the county and the city, so we’re happy to do that, said John Schroer,” commissioner with the Tennessee Department of Transportation. Schrorer said TDOT will give almost $10 million this year in governor enhancement grants. They will finish giving it all out by the end of September.
