Crash Kills Five On MS Interstate
Five people, including a mother and her child, have died in a multi-vehicle crash in Interstate 10 in Jackson County in south Mississippi.
Wednesday’s accident happened east of Mississippi Highway 57 in the eastbound lanes of the interstate. The eastbound lanes were shut down for about five hours.
Gautier police say the six vehicles involved included three full sized pickup trucks, one of which was pulling a horse trailer; a minivan with the now deceased mother and her child; a sedan and an 18-wheeler. A horse inside the trailer also died.
Four of the surviving accident victims were taken to nearby hospitals. One adult and a child are in stable condition at Singing River Hospital in Pascagoula. Another child and adult are in stable condition at Ocean Springs Hospital.
