Man Disappears In Tennessee River
A river search has resumed in McCracken County for a man who got into a swift current in the Tennessee River and disappeared.
Paul Carter, emergency management coordinator for the county, said Friday morning that the missing man is Jeffrey Kirkpatrick, who lives near the spot where the search is being carried out.
Carter said Kirkpatrick was swimming with a woman on Thursday afternoon when he called out to her that the current had caught him about 100 yards from the boat they were using and he didn’t think he could make it. He told his companion to try to float.
The woman reached the shore and went to the nearest house to call for help.
Carter said teams searched until after dark Thursday and were resuming at daylight Friday.
