Henderson Co. Fair Food is Big Fundraiser for First Responders
The money spent for some of the food at the Henderson County Fair could help save lives. Volunteer firefighters and rescue squad members from Parkers Crossroads have moved to Lexington this week. And, instead of stopping fires they are creating their own. “Fire State Three” is cooking up bar-b-q for its annual fundraiser to help raise money for the volunteer emergency services in Henderson County. The fair is the group’s biggest fundraiser of the year. They say without this, the station would not exist. “The money that is donated during this time helps us have to funds to go out and save property and save lives,” said one firefighter. The first responders expect to sell 72 shoulders and 800 chickens. The Henderson County Fair is the last free fair in Tennessee. It runs through Saturday.
