Osteen Trial Begins

A Madison County jury will begin deliberating the fate of a man accused of trying to kill a Jackson police officer as soon as tomorrow. Tuesday morning the state trial for Christopher Osteen began. He faces six different charges including attempted first degree murder in the September 2010 shooting of Officer Mark Headen. Osteen is accused of breaking into the Old Country Store and after being cornered and wrestled to the ground by officers, firing a shot, hitting Headen in the arm and another officers with bullet shrapnel. Osteen also faces a federal charge of having a gun as a convicted felon.
