Gary Morris Teaches Bethel U Students About Music
Hundreds of Bethel University students were paid a special visit by country music and Broadway star Gary Morris, Friday. Morris spoke at the university’s Master Class with Renaissance students. His message was to always follow your dreams and never be afraid to step out on faith. “When I was having really big records and doing other things, I really didn’t appreciate the time until afterwards when I looked back because in the momentum you’re moving forward and it’s like what’s next,” Morris told the class. “But I’m going to tell you to enjoy this part of your lives.” Morris is best know for his original recording of “Wind Beneath My Wings,” which won both the CMA and ACM song of the year. In December, the entertainer will return to West Tennessee where he will perform a Christmas show with his band at The Ned in downtown Jackson. Morris’ country music career began in the early 1980’s. He produced 12 albums, featuring 16 top ten singles and five number one hit songs.
