Carnathan Indicted on Federal Charge

The Mississippi man, accused of robbing a bank in Selmer then losing the stolen cash at casinos in Tunica, has been indicted by a federal grand jury. Joseph Carnathan, 40, 0f Mooreville, Miss., was arrested on Sept. 20 on a state charge of aggravated robbery and has now been indicted on a stronger, federal count of bank robbery. Investigators say on September 13, Carnathan walked into the SouthBank in Selmer and walked out with a lot of cash. He was on the run for exactly one week before his nephew, who is also a deputy in Lee County, Miss., spotted him on an ABC 7 Eyewitness News broadcast.
