Jackson Police Investigate Tuesday Murder

Police are still investigating a shooting that claimed the life of a Jackson man. Darvin Travis, 20, was shot in front of a local burger joint in east Jackson, Tuesday night. Police responded to a call at around 7:15 p.m. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Travis lying lifeless in the middle of Hays Avenue. Travis was sitting with two other people at the time of the shooting. “A man approached from the rear of the business a grocery story and with out saying anything he opened fire,” said Lt. Tyreece Miller. The victim collapsed and fell across the street. The other two men with Travis were not injured. Jackson police are looking the shooter. Police describe the man as a black male, 5 feet 8 inches tall with a slim build.
