Patient Leads Police On Chase
A Tennessee man who is a patient at a nursing home in Virginia has been arrested after police say he stole a car with a child inside and led police on a chase that reached 100 miles per hour.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office in Virginia said 47-year-old Steven K. Thornburg of Chuckey, Tenn., has been charged with grand larceny, abduction and eluding law enforcement.
The Bristol Herald Courier reports that police said a 9-year-old boy was inside a car that was stolen from outside the Greendale Home for the Aged on Sunday .
Authorities say the patient dropped the boy off and then led police in a chase on Interstate 81 that ended in Tennessee. Thornburg is being held in the Sullivan County, Tenn., jail and is awaiting extradition to Virginia.
