After nearly four years of planning, CityWalk is on its way to becoming a reality. “I was one of those who probably thought it might not happen because we just had so many groups involved,” said Jackson Mayor Jerry Gist. CityWalk is an integrated commercial and residential planned community located north of the Farmer’s Market in downtown Jackson. West Tennessee Healthcare has invested $17 million in a new state-of-the-art wellness facility. “We will have a full compliment of activities but we will also combine that with therapy, physical therapy and aqua therapy,” said Bobby Arnold CEO West Tennessee Healthcare. ” We will also have a primary care clinic located at the center itself.” “The stores will be upscale stores, there will be good stores, there could be a restaurant, could be a clothing store, coffee shops,” said Vicki Lake, chairperson of the Community Redevelopment Agency. In addition to the medical wellness facility and retail center there will be 156 upscale apartment units and 20 single family residential lots. “It will certainly help existing business. Business goes where people are and this facility here will have hundreds of people in it everyday and certainly provide some great things,” said Mayor Gist. The planned completion date for CityWalk is January of 2013.
