Coach Resigns After Tirade
The football coach at a Shelby County high school has resigned in the wake of his profanity-laced speech to his team. The audio got posted on YouTube.
A county schools spokesman said Monday that Collierville High School coach Shawn Abel had resigned his coaching position. The Commercial Appeal reported it was couldn’t reach Abel or Collierville High School athletic director Roy Kirkland for comment
In a brief statement released to the newspaper, schools spokesman Shawn Pachucki stated Abel resigned for making inappropriate comments to players Thursday night. Abel remains on paid leave.
Abel’s comments were later removed from the Internet site.
