Authorities said an afternoon shooting in Brownsville yesterday has left one man in a Memphis hospital and investigators looking for a shooter. “(Tuesday ) afternoon around 2 o’clock, our officers responded to a shooting victim in the street on Iola (Street) ,” said Lieutenant Chuck Willis with the Brownsville Police Department. Family members said the victim, 26, was shot in the chest in front of a vacant home which is located directly across from the victim’s mother’s home. “My daughter called and told me. I came over here. They had him in the ambulance,” said Hattie RIvers, mother of the victim. Authorities said the victim and witnesses identified the shooter as Marcus Danielle Williams, 29, of Brownsville. Officers have issued an arrest warrant for Williams for attempted first degree murder. Police said they invaded Williams’ home in the 1100 block of Farrell Street in Brownsville, but were not able to capture him. “They were getting along having a good time, but I don’t know what made him go crazy,” said Denise Rivers, sister of the victim. Rivers said her brother and Williams were friends. Police said the victim was airlifted to a Memphis hospital where he was listed in stable condition. Authorities urge anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Marcus Danielle Williams to call Brownsville Crime Stoppers at (731) 772-CASH or the Brownsville Police Department at (731) 772-1260.
