Chaney Waives Hearing, Murder Case to Grand Jury

A Madison County grand jury will now hear the case of the 18-year-old responsible for this month’s violent and deadly city-wide crime spree. Tray Chaney waived his right to a preliminary hearing Thursday morning. He currently faces six separate charges, including first degree murder. He is being held without bond and will return to court January 9. Investigators said Chaney gunned down his girlfriend and shot her friend outside a west Jackson apartment complex earlier this month. He then carjacked a family before exchanging gunfire with a Madison County deputy.
