WKU Sets Enrollment Record
Western Kentucky University’s enrollment passed 21,000 students for the fall 2011 semester, setting a record for the 14th consecutive year.
Enrollment at the Bowling Green school is 21,048, up 145 students from fall 2010.
University President Gary Ransdell said work by recruiters and staff working to retain students are the key reasons for the enrollment figures.
Western Kentucky Provost Gordon Emslie cited growth in the dual credit program with high school students, transfer students seeking four-year degrees, an increase in the number of seniors and the more than triple number of international students in the Navitas program as elements in the increase.
Emslie said 330 new students have been accepted into the Honors College at Western Kentucky, bringing enrollment to 1,111. Those students have an average ACT score of 29.3.
