Jackson police said they are still looking for the two suspects who shot a man in an apparent robbery early Saturday morning. They said it all started when a 25-year-old left his apartment to pick up two strangers in the 800 Block of Old Hickory Boulevard. “He brought these two men to his apartment and once inside, they pulled guns and they shot and killed Demetris (Cole),” said Lt. Tyreece Miller of the Jackson Police Department. Police said Demetris Cole, 31, a friend of the man who lived in the 200 block of Moize Cut-Off Road, was shot during an apparent robbery. The 25-year-old and a woman were at the apartment at the time, but were not hurt. Investigators said they believe they know why the men were picked up, but are not making that public, for now. “That’s part of the ongoing investigation,” Lt. Miller said. “We can’t compromise the investigation. It’s best that we keep some details to ourselves ’cause we don’t want to jeopardize anything.” According to police, the suspects are black men in their 20s, and frequent the Old Hickory Boulevard area. They said after the shooting, the men forced the 25-year-old to drive them south on Highland Avenue. “And they got out of his truck in the area of Talbot Street. They were last seen going west on Talbot,” Miller said. When caught, both will face first-degree murder charges. If you have information on the suspected gunmen, call Jackson Police at (731) 425-8400 or Crime Stoppers at (731) 424-8477.
