Madison Co. Relay for Life Kick-off
It is still six months away, but the planning for Madison County’s 17th annual Relay for Life is well underway. The official kick-off for the American Cancer Society fundraiser was held in downtown Jackson. Dozens of teams have already signed up to not only walk during the overnight event, but raise money to help in the fight to find a cure for cancer. Organizers said they also hope this event helps cancer survivors know they are not alone. “I’m sure as a cancer patient, you’re depressed and worried all the time about what happened or what’s going to happen and when they see people who survived it and are healthy and happy, it just gives them more hope,” said Jodie Parrish, chairperson for Madison County’s Relay for Life. Go ahead and mark your calendars, Madison County’s Relay for Life will be May 11 and 12 at the Jackson Fairgrounds Park.
