West Middle Student Charged with Having Weapon on Campus

A 13-year-old student at West Middle School is out of class after the school resource officer said she brought a weapon on campus. The female student was taken into custody at school, Thursday, after the officer found a folding knife with a three-inch blade in her purse. The student said she needed it for protection because she was being bullied. The teen has been released to her parents. A court date has not been scheduled.
