Paducah Food Distributor Closing

US Foods is shuttering its Paducah plant, with the services shifting to a recently expanded facility in Tennessee.

Company spokeswoman Christina Koliopoulos told The Paducah Sun that the site is closing because it isn’t near any major market .Koliopoulos said the closure allows the company to maximize the use of a Memphis facility.

The closure is expected to be complete by April. Employees in Paducah will be offered the chance to relocate or given severance packages if they do not find employment.

Greater Paducah Economic Development Corporation President Chad Chancellor said US Foods is one of the 10 largest employers in the area.

US Foods, based in Rosemont, Ill., is the 10th largest private company in America with more than $18 billion in annual revenue.
