Veterans from Alamo and all across Crockett County were present as 41 new names were added to the Veterans’ Memorial, just outside the Crockett County Courthouse. The memorial was first dedicated on Veterans Day in 2008. Since then, more than 5,000 names have been engraved on 15 tablets, and additional names are added to the memorial each year. All of the names on the memorial are Crockett County veterans and military from all branches who have served since World War II. According to organizers, the memorial has been funded completely from private donations. They claim there is nothing like it in Tennessee. Even people from out of state occasionally stop by to check it out.
