Victim Stable after Shooting at Jimmy D’s

Jackson police need help finding the gunmen responsible for an Wednesday morning shooting that left another man in the hospital. Investigators believe Travis Chapman, 26, was one of two men who opened fire outside Jimmy D’s Sports Bar, hitting a 33-year-old man in the stomach. Officers said around 2 a.m., an argument between the victim and a friend of Chapman spilled outside, Officers said the two men argued with three other people . Witnesses said that is when Chapman and another man stepped out of the car and began shooting. Then, the gunman’s friend got into a red car with three other people. “We don’t think is was random,” said Lt. Tyreece Miller of the Jackson Police Department. “Emotions were high and something sparked the fight inside and it escalated to gun shots being fired.” The suspects were in a red, early 2000s model Chevrolet Malibu or Impala. One of the shooters is a black man with short hair, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighed 190 pounds.
