Nutcracker Opens in Jackson

The longest, consecutively running “Nutcracker” production in the Volunteer State is underway in Jackson. Jackson Ballet Arts kicked off a weekend run of the popular holiday production Friday morning at the Carl Perkins Civic Center. The ballet is fit for all ages and features a live orchestra, conducted by Dr. Chris Matthews, chairman of the Department of Music at Union University. This year marks the 30th production of “Nutcracker Suite” with a cast of both local and professional dancers. Performances will continue through Sunday, December 11, 2011.
