Body Confirmed as Karen Swift
Dyer County officials said they have positively identified a decomposed body found over the weekend as that of missing mother Karen Swift. Sheriff Jeff Box said the body was found just off of Harness Road only three miles from Swift’s home. According to the sheriff, that area is full of vegetation and kudzu making it difficult to see. “Somebody could have walked by it and never saw it,” said Sheriff Box. The case is now being investigated as a homicide; however, no suspects have been named at this time. Neighbors of Swift said this is a shocking end to the month and a half long search. “There’s just a sadness around the home and I just pray for it every time I go by,” said Donna Rose. The Sheriff’s Department is working closely with the TBI in the investigation of the homicide.
