Bell Ringer Killed By Train

A young Salvation Army bell ringer has been struck and killed by a train.

Scott County Coroner John Goble identified the victim as 21-year-old Cory Ross of Georgetown.

Ross was walking along tracks near the Georgetown Bypass on Thursday afternoon, listening to music on his cell phone, according to WKYT-TV in Lexington (http://bit.ly/vcFnSM).

Goble said the engineer laid on the engine’s horn and Ross never turned his head.

The coroner said the train struck Ross, throwing him off the tracks, but the impact killed him, probably instantly.
