A teenager charged in an East Jackson home invasion will be tried as an adult. According to Jackson police, Cornelius Moffitt, 17, is charged with especially aggravated burglary, especially aggravated kidnapping and especially aggravated robbery in connection with a late November attack at Park Trace Apartments. A transfer hearing was scheduled today in Madison County Juvenile Court, but Moffitt, through his attorney, waived his right to that hearing and his case was sent to the Madison County grand jury. Moffitt’s Bond was set at $20,000. On November 26 Jackson police responded to a burglary in progress call at Park Trace Apartments. The victim said she walked inside her apartment to find Moffitt, hiding in the closet, behind her front door. He allegedly grabbed her around the neck and demanded money. According to investigators, the victim was able to pull a knife from her pocket and defend herself by stabbing Moffitt in the forearm that he had around her neck. She suffered an accidental, self-inflicted cut to her neck when he moved his arm.
