Union City Officer Arrested by TBI

A Union City Police officer was arrested by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Wednesday. According to a news release, Mike Hogg is charged with two counts of filing a false report, insurance fraud and theft. Court documents state that in August 2010, Hogg reported a four-wheeler stolen from his Obion County residence and his insurance company paid a claim for that theft. He also filed a warranty claim on the four-wheeler with a local retailer. However, investigators believe Hogg gave the vehicle to someone and also knew where it was when he filed the report. Hogg is also accused of giving false statements to TBI agents who were investigating the case. Union City Police Chief Joe Garner said Hogg has been released from duty pending the conclusion of the investigation.
