Residents Promote Firework Safety

If you are planning on shooting off fireworks to celebrate the new year this weekend, make sure you do so safely. Workers at Deco Fireworks in Lexington said they hand out safety fliers to their customers to remind them of safer ways to shoot off their fireworks. They said anyone younger than 10 years old should have adult supervision when setting them off. Another tip? Always shoot in a clear, open area with nothing in the way. “It just keeps it safe so that nothing hits any power lines, any trees, anything gets knocked down, it keeps everyone safe,” said Ben King, store manager. Some West Tennessee counties have outlawed fireworks, so before setting them off, check your county’s laws.
