Lexington Fire Chief and Utilities Manager Suspended
7 Eyewitness News has learned the fire chief in Lexington as well as the utilities manager for the city have been suspended by Mayor Tim Pierce. The mayor said both Fire Chief Glenn Wood and utilities manager Michael Harper were suspended because the city charter requires that individuals who hold the offices within the Lexington City limits, a requirement he said both were aware of. The mayor said he plans to have the city charter changed, which would allow the two men to return to office. A special board of aldermen meeting is scheduled for Friday evening at 6 p.m. to address the issue.
