Max Stewart is no longer the “interim” Jackson Fire Chief. That is because he is now officially the Jackson Fire Chief. Stewart was named to the interim position in September of 2011, after the resignation of Chief James Pearson. Stewart has been with the Jackson Fire Department since 1982. “The fact that I’ve come through the ranks allows me to know how a firefighter, driver, captain or battalion chief, I know that I’ve been there and can relate to them.” said Stewart. Stewart expects the new station number 7, in newly annexed northwest Jackson to be built and manned by the end of 2012. His promotion to chief officially takes place on Saturday.
