School System Solves Sewer Woes

Rogersville officials think they have discovered the source of an unpleasant mystery odor that plagued the Rogersville City School for years.

During a sewer smoke test over Christmas break, officials discovered that one of two garbage disposal lines in the school cafeteria was connected to the sewer instead of the grease trap, according to the Kingsport Times-News

Principal Bill Walker told the Board of Education the problem will be repaired on Monday, when school is out for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

Walker said he hopes that will be the end of the mystery smell, but he doesn’t want to make a guarantee.

Officials thought they had found the source of the smell during another smoke test over Thanksgiving when a leaking pipe was discovered.
