Chattanooga Hospital Cuts Staff

Chattanooga’s public hospital has cut more than one-third of its executive positions in a restructuring plan.

Erlanger Health System announced on Monday it pared six of 15 executive posts and moved one of its executives to Erlanger at Hutcheson, according to the Chattanooga Times Free Press

Erlanger’s downtown Chattanooga hospital and its Hutcheson location in Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., lost a combined $15 million in the first five months of the fiscal year that began July 1.

Interim CEO Charlesetta Woodard-Thompson issued a written statement stating Erlanger intends to begin its new fiscal year without a deficit.

Erlanger trustees announced last week changes were coming after Jim Brexler left as CEO on Dec. 31. The trustees approved a $728,000 severance package for Brexler on Jan. 9.
