Union Students Day of Service
Union University honored the Doctor Martin Luther King, Junior holiday by giving back the the Jackson community. Volunteer teams of students, faculty and staff volunteered at Hartland Place Apartments, Monday afternoon and spent hours cleaning up the grounds. It was one of three services projects the university organized throughout the day. Union leaders said they hope their actions honor both God and Doctor King. “I just really enjoy doing service projects and cleaning up and I know that the people out here could use some help, the manager of the apartments and stuff so I just want to come out and help and I enjoy doing this,” said Union student Krista Bradley. “We’re raking leaves and pine cones, and that seems like a silly thing but like it’s really helping out the apartment guy.” Teams also volunteered at both Birth Choice and the Care Center , which is a women and children’s shelter.
