Police: Man Steals Donation Jar, Loses His Keys

Jackson police said a string of bad decisions and bad luck by a would-be thief led straight to him. Elijah Houston, 23, is now free on a $1,000 bond, bust faces charges of theft and parking in a handicap zone. Around 10:30, Thursday morning, police said Houston walked into a Taco Bell on the Highway 45 By Pass and stole a donation jar with more than $500 in it and in the process dropped his keys. It was not until after he got to his car that he realized it, and though he pleaded with Taco Bell workers to let him back in the locked doors, they refused. A short time later Houston was arrested along Old Hickory Boulevard while trying to flag down a ride. His car, which was illegally parked in a handicapped spot, was towed.
