Family Speaks after Building Collapse

The family of Renardo Jackson, 32, of Milan, the man killed Monday after a building collapsed in Greenfield describe him as a hard worker and a hero. “My other nephew was in there. He (Jackson) pushed him. He saw it was coming down and that’s the reason he got out,” said Robert Jackson, uncle of Renardo Jackson. Jackson said his other nephew, Kevin Davis, 33, of Martin survived the incident. In a phone call with 7 Eyewitness News, Davis said although in considerable pain, he is happy to be alive. Authorities said Davis was trapped in the collapsed building for three hours, which Davis said seemed like an eternity. Jackson said his nephew Renardo was a hard worker and often stopped by his home to see whether there was anything he could do for him. He said he fondly remembers Renardo working alongside him. “Only one (worker) that I had that worked, he just worked all the time. You never found him where he wouldn’t be working. He did that all the time,” said Jackson. Davis said he was released from the hospital and is resting at home. Jackson said a funeral will be held for Renardo Jackson, Friday, with a burial to follow in Martin.
