Feds Charge 12 Alleged Drug Dealers
Twelve men have been charged with Federal Drug Trafficking. A show of force today in Brownsville. About 140 members of state, local and federal agencies took part in the early morning operation. U.S. Attorney Edward L. Stanton said, “All of the individuals are charged with drug trafficking. The majority of them have gang affiliations in West Tennessee.” According to the complaint , between August of 2011 and this month the defendants conspired to possess with the intent to distribute more than 500 grams of cocaine and more than 280 grams of crack cocaine. Stanton said, “Right now they are all held on federal charges and this is a collaborative effort. The goal is the charges that will carry the most time.” The operation was months in the making. Guns, rifles, vehicles and drugs were taken and according to sources $103,000 was seized. “The investigation is ongoing. It was a large scale operation and as the facts are revealed you will see this was a large scale operation of drug trafficking,” said Stanton. The DEA, FBI, ATF, US Marshal Service, TBI, THP all helped local law enforcement in the arrests of the drug dealers and gang members. Stanton said, “The U.S Attorney’s office for West Tennessee will continue to prosecute those that seek to be involved with illegal gang activity and drug trafficking throughout West Tennessee.” The twelve men charged are all in their twenties or thirties. Charged: Travis Ballard, 36 of Brownsville; Patrick Dancy, 36 of Brownsville; Brandon Dickerson, 26 of Brownsville; Travis Hester, 31 of Sparta; Decornick Moore, 28 of Brownsville; Kevin Reed, 26 of Brownsville; Homer Rivers, 33, of Grand Junction; Mario Seymour, 29 of Brownsville; James Turner, Jr., 26 of Brownsville and two others whose names have yet to be released.
