Mississippi Preparing for Isaac

Hurricane Katrina has given Mississippi Coast residents a stronger awareness of the danger they face as Tropical Storm Isaac threatens the Gulf. Marisa Lamey, Lowe’s store manager in D’Iberville, says residents seem more alert as they prepare for Isaac’s landfall. Lamey said people were waiting in the store parking lot when he arrived for work at 5:30 a.m. He said the store run out of generators, batteries and water, but expected more supplies to arrive Monday. Plywood was still available Sunday afternoon. Gulfport Harbormaster George Manemann said about half the ninety boats in the harbor have been evacuated and fuel sales Sunday were way up. He said harbor personnel will be calling boaters with boats still in the harbor Monday.
