Sheriff’s Deputy Shot and Wounded
A sheriff’s deputy has shot and severely wounded an armed man in central Kentucky. Kentucky State Police said troopers were called to back up a Nelson County deputy Thursday afternoon in New Haven. The deputy, whose name was not immediately released, arrived shortly before 3 p.m. on a property dispute call. The KSP said when the deputy arrived, he was met on the front porch by 61-year-old John Hagan, who pointed a gun at him. The deputy fired once, striking Hagan in the right upper torso. The officer then performed CPR on Hagan until an ambulance arrived. Hagan was last reported in critical condition at University Hospital in Louisville. The KSP is investigating the officer-involved shooting.
