Memorial for “Forgotten Crash”

A memorial to victims of a 1955 airliner crash will be dedicated Sunday near the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. The marker will honor victims of what has become known as “the forgotten crash.” On Jan. 12, 1955, Trans World Airlines flight 694 took off from the field that later became the international airport and was struck by a private plane. The resulting crash killed fifteen people. Ruth Zint Wearly and her daughter, Susan Zint Buecker, both of Fort Thomas, will unveil the marker in Hebron. Wearly said she didn’t know her husband, John “Jack” Zint, was one of the victims until her daughter, Susan, who was in kindergarten, heard her father’s name on television that afternoon. Wearly is now 88.
