Life Sentence in Amite Murder
Daniel Beasley has been convicted of murder in the death of his 73-year-old aunt in 2011. Beasley was given a life sentence Wednesday. Prosecutors say the body of Janie Beasley Wilkinson was found in the back bedroom of her apartment in Liberty. Prosecutors say she had been beaten to death. Beasley testified he heard his aunt scream and found her dead and got her blood on his clothes when he turned her over. Beasley said he returned to his apartment, showered, drank coffee and smoked cigars. Then he drove around looking for a place to dump his bloody clothes and found the service station Dumpster. Beasley said he did not call police because he thought he would be blamed.
