Retired Part-Time Deputy Arrested on Molestation Charges
Pascagoula police have arrested a 74-year-old man on a charge of molesting-touching a child for lustful purposes. Police said in a news release that Virgil Moore was arrested Thursday. Sheriff Mike Byrd says Moore retired from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department in February. He says Moore was a part-time deputy for about eleven years. Moore is being held in the Pascagoula Municipal Jail awaiting an appearance before Judge Michael Fondren. It was unclear whether Moore has an attorney.
