Researchers: Cell Phones Have More Germs than Toilet Seats

Major cell phone providers are warning customers about the flu and that mobile devices can spread the virus. It is because of how often we shake hands, turn doorknobs and touch railings before using our phones. One professor of microbiology a the University of Arizona told ABC News that cell phones are 10 times as dirty as a toilet seat. “Putting our phones on the surfaces that have been contaminated, our desk tops just anywhere that other people have been they are going to expose the phone to whatever is growing on that surface,” said Vickey Honeycutt, a nurse practitioner. Medical experts advise people to clean and disinfect their phone regularly and to avoid taking their phones into restrooms.
