Former Presidential Candidate Rick Santorum in Jackson

JACKSON, Tenn. – Former Republican Presidential Candidate Rick Santorum landed in West Tennessee with one goal, to motivate the masses. “I’m excited to see them. This is the heartland, this is a place where the values that built the country are still very strong,” Santorum said. Nearly a thousand were in attendance at the Birth Choice Banquet where Santorum was the guest speaker. An overflow section was set up to accommodate the large crowds that came to hear him speak. Barry Phillips said he was excited to see a national figure speak. “It’s exciting for the city and it speaks to him and his character that he doesn’t mind coming to a rural area to help Jackson and Gibson County,” he said. Senator Santorum said it was important to speak here in Tennessee because the morals that built are country are still intact here. “I wanna encourage people in this part of the country to go out and steel for the fight cause we got a lot coming at us,” he said. Santorum believes people in West Tennessee share his beliefs on social issues such as traditional marriage and a stance against abortion. He said that was why he was here to remind West Tennesseans to fight against those who challenge conservative ways. “They are fully engaged to uproot the values of our country. We can stand by and watch them do it or we can go out and fight the battle. And I’m here because we need to fight that battle for our children,” Santorum said.
