Man Hospitalized After Weekend Stabbing

CROCKETT COUNTY, Tenn.- Investigators are looking into a weekend stabbing that happened after an argument broke out at a party in Crockett County. Deputies say a 21-year-old victim was stabbed in the throat at a residence along Walnut Hill Road. Witnesses said they also heard several shots being fired during the fight. “It could have been 50 to 60 people there,” said Sgt. Alan Gilliland with the Sheriff’s Department. “With shots being fired, and people getting cut, it could have been a lot worse than it was.” WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News was told the victim was taken to a Jackson hospital in critical condition. He has since undergone surgery and is in serious but stable condition. “It breaks my heart to see our community becoming like this,” said Ann Morris who lives nearby. Morris said she used to live in a quiet community, and she hears of violence too often. “Something needs to be done, and we have got to take control of our county back and the hoodlums can just get out,” said Morris. Deputies are still investigating the stabbing. If you have information, call the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department at (731) 696-2104.
