JACKSON, Tenn.-How do you say thank you to the men and women who are willing to rush into a burning building to save you? In the south with food, of course. Libby Murphy and her mother held a dinner at Fire Station One in Downtown Jackson. They told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News they did this to thank them for their work everyday. They wanted to show their appreciation in light of the Boston bombing and the fact that these guys are ready to help and react to any situation to help the citizens every day. Firefighters were coming and going as some would have to eat and run because they were being called out. “You know we don’t ever see them and then a crisis comes about and they’re there to the rescue and it’s just a simple, simple way to let them know how much we appreciate what they do,”said Libby Murphy, the coordinator of this event. The women hope that people will show their appreciation to all firefighters for what they do.
