JACKSON, Tenn.-At North Side High School, Roddy Tomlin put in hours of practice time. All the hard work has paid off with a chance to make an NFL team. Roddy is a mountain of a man at 6 feet 5 inches tall and 312 pounds. Good numbers if you are an offensive tackle. The Jaguars took him out of Murray State as an undrafted free agent. “Signing as a free agent to Jacksonville they told me that with everybody they are bringing in this year draft wise and as a free agent they are going to give everybody an equal field to make the 53-man roster come September,” said Tomlin. Tab Vowell is the head coach at North Side High School. He remembers Roddy as a leader. “He was not only in football but in our school. Like I said, you are not gonna find a better individual than Roddy Tomlin,” said Vowell. Roddy will be in Jaguars camp this week and return next week just in time for graduation day at Murray State. After graduation he will return to Jacksonville. “Jacksonville has given me the schedule and there won’t be a time or day conflict. I will be able to graduate and walk across the stage,” said Tomlin. Roddy said he will never forget the good times, playing football at North Side High School. “People always talked about me being the big guy out there and that type of stuff, but I never thought about it like that it was just like another sport that I could play with friends and actually have fun at the same time,” said Tomlin.
