JACKSON, Tenn.-The Jackson Generals will celebrate Star Wars culture this weekend. May 4th celebrations kick off at the Ballpark at Jackson, Saturday afternoon. Employees unpacked Star Wars gear Friday morning. The Jackson Generals will celebrate their third annual Star Wars night Saturday with special jerseys, trivia, and characters. “Falling on May the 4th this year, which is kind of an unofficial, official National Star Wars Day using the pun of ‘May the 4th be with you,” said General Manager Jason Compton. Saturday the Generals host the Jacksonville Suns in a double header. Everything is Star Wars themed. The Generals store stocked up on light sabers for the celebration. “They’re a big hit,” said Hunter Ellington, manager of Ticketing and Merchandise. “We sell them out in less than two or three innings.” Fans can bid on the Star Wars jerseys during the game. If a bidder wins the silent auction he or she gets a signed jersey to take home. “May the 4th is always our biggest night of the year,” said Compton. “It’s all exciting. The players love it. The fans love it.” Compton encourages fans to dress up in character for the festivities. “Star Wars appeals to my 3-year-old just like it does to me,” he said. The gates open Saturday at 3:05 p.m. The first game starts at 4:05 p.m. Game two will begin about 30 minutes after the first game ends.
