New Developments in Missing Person Case

LAKE COUNTY Tenn.- DNA results give answers to a missing person case, 31 years in the making, out of Lake County. Annie Mae Hughes and L.V. Young went missing in December 1982. A month later the truck they were driving was found in the Mississippi River, with Young inside. Hughes’ body was never discovered. “When they found him he was in the truck,” said Hughes’ daughter Annette. “Where did she go?” According to new DNA results, Hughes’ bones washed ashore in a small Arkansas town, 150 miles down the Mississippi River. The family said they cannot understand how the bones ended up in the river. They claim the route the couple was taking home that night should have never led them to water. “Do I think that my grandmother would have ran her truck into the Mississippi with the father of her 2 kids inside? No I don’t,” said Hughes’ granddaughter Lauveka Hart. “There is no way.” The family said the pair’s death is a mystery they may never see solved. If you have any information in this case, you are asked to call the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
