Sex Offender Now Facing Stalking Charges
JACKSON, Tenn. – A convicted sex offender is now facing stalking charges. According to a news release, Jackson police charged Chad Lutrell, of Lesters Chapel Road in Madison County, with three counts of stalking and one count of assault. Police said the incidents reportedly happened over the span of about a year. Police said Lutrell, 34, was arrested around 1 p.m. Monday at his home by deputies with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies then transported Lutrell to the Jackson Police Department where officers served him with three arrest warrants. Investigators said that on April 23, three women, who are employees at the Wal-Mart on South Highland Avenue, came to the police department to report Lutrell’s behavior. Lutrell is believed to be a frequent customer of that location. Police said the women reported similar incidents of Lutrell harassing them while they are working at Wal-Mart. Lutrell reportedly approached the women and made sexual comments, which caused them to feel nervous and fearful. One of the women told police that in the summer of 2012, Lutrell approached her from behind, pulled her back and then kissed her on the cheek without her consent. Lutrell was convicted of sexual battery for a crime committed in Jackson in June 2009. In that incident, Lutrell inappropriately touched a 10-year-old girl resulting in him being placed on the Tennessee Sex Offender Registry. Lutrell was arraigned in Jackson City Court Tuesday morning on charges of three counts of stalking and one count of simple assault. He was released on $30,000 bond. Lutrell’s next scheduled court appearance is at 1:30 p.m. on June 3 in Jackson City Court.
