Man Arrested on Drug and Weapons Charges

JACKSON, Tenn. – A Jackson man was arrested and accused of selling marijuana and illegally having a gun. According to a news release, the Jackson-Madison County Metro Narcotics Unit served a narcotics search warrant at 307 Magnolia Landing Court in east Jackson at the home of Maurice Dotson, Jr. Police said their search of the residence revealed about 1.4 pounds of marijuana, a loaded 9mm handgun, a digital scale and drug packaging materials. Dotson was reportedly present at the time of the search and was taken into custody. Police said the marijuana seized has an estimated street value of $2,300 and the 9mm handgun was reported stolen from the City of Jackson. Officers seized a 2000 Lincoln Continental, $462 in U.S. currency and various electronics they believe were the proceeds of drug sales. Maurice Montonio Dotson, Jr., 34, is charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell or distribute, possession of a firearm in commission of a dangerous felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked into the Madison County Jail.
