JACKSON, Tenn.–Jackson City Council members approved thousands of dollars in funding for repairs at the Ballpark at Jackson. Tuesday morning the board unanimously approved $190,000 for the project. The money will replace the playing surface and drainage at the ballpark. “The drainage after 15 years is just about gone,” said Jackson Mayor Jerry Gist. “We‘ve had to call off a number of games that we should have been able to play.” The team said the field is old. The ballpark said water does not drain properly and pools in areas. “Next year we’ll have new turf and new drainage and should be able to play a lot of ballgames that we were not able to play this year,” said Gist. The mayor said workers will renovate the outfield during the off season. The field should be ready for next year.
